Overview
The I-O 5430b and 5431b Bar Code
Print Servers are
single-port, multi-protocol print servers designed to provide support for specialty
printers, such as Zebra, Eltron, Genicom, Monarch, Sato, Datamax, Intermec
as well as other bar code and specialty printers bar code label printers
over Ethernet networks from IBM Power Systems, iSeries
AS/400 and zSeries S/390
host systems.
The 5430b & 5431b connect
Barcode printers to your IBM Host over IP and configures them
as true "Devices" with normal Out
Queues, and not problematic Remote Out Queue printers. This gives you optimal control of file
spooling printer status (page range, out of paper, offline etc.).
The 5430b & 5431b connects
Barcode printers with the same reliable, full
function printing support as a direct Twinax-attached 5250 printer
or Coax-attached 3270 printer.
If you need direct attachment as Twinax or Coax printers, click here for the I-O 4440 Twinax / Coax
Thermal Bar Code Interface.
Highlights
Connects one parallel printer (I-O
5430b) or one serial printer (I-O
5431b)
Support of most proprietary Bar
Code / Label printer languages
10 / 100 Mbps Ethernet LAN, auto
sensing
Multiple Host support (iSeries AS/400, Mainframe zSeries, Windows, Unix)
Multiple LAN protocols - TCP/IP (PPR/PPD, TN5250e, LPR/LPD), SNA (APPC), AnyNet (SNA over TPC/IP)
Host printing via Telnet
(TN5250e and TN3270E), SNA (APPC) or AnyNet
Simple, one step set-up (auto
configuration) when using TN5250e or TN3270e
Host controlled printing,
including error reporting, page range printing etc.
I-O's award winning IBM printer
emulations
EBCDIC to ASCII conversion done
by the 5430b/5431b , frees host
resources and increases print speeds

Features |
Benefits |
AS/400 printing over
Ethernet |
Allows AS/400 print jobs to be seamlessly printed
over a LAN. |
Enhanced Telnet 5250
(TN5250e) |
Communicate with up to ten AS/400's using native
TCP/IP. |
Printer error reporting to
the AS/400 |
Prevents loss of AS/400 print data by providing the
same level of print status reporting as a 5250 Twinax printer. |
Page range printing from the
AS/400 |
Permits users to print select page ranges from large
documents and reports. |
Auto configuration (One step
setup) |
Installs in minutes using native TCP/IP, avoiding
complex software configurations. |
Offloading of Data
Conversion |
Eliminates unnecessary AS/400 or PC overhead by
converting EBCDIC data directly on the I-O 5430B/5431B. Host Print Transform is no longer
required. |
True IBM printer emulations |
Permits full-function AS/400 printing on the attached
LAN printer. |
Simultaneous, multi-host
printing
|
Maximizes printer utilization by supporting
concurrent printing not only from multiple AS/400's but from Novell, Windows NT, Windows
95, OS/2, UNIX, etc. |
10BaseT and 100BaseT |
Protects print server investment when upgrading the
LAN to 100 Mbps. |
Powerful RISC processor |
Takes advantage of the LAN printer's maximum print
speed even when processing AS/400 jobs. |
Unique support of
proprietary bar code label printer languages |
Print self-tests, diagnostics, dumps, etc., directly
to any attached label printer for convenient customization and trouble-shooting. |
