Overview
Other printer companies may boast of
having high speed printers, but the T6180 takes bragging rights as being the first (and
only) line printer to reach the milestone of 1,800 lines per minute (draft)! (Click on Picture for Specifications)
This blinding speed is made possible, in part, because of the T6180's
Page Segment Architecture. This technology makes use of a proprietary controller that
arranges data into segments prior to printing. Since this eliminates time-consuming
reversal, text and graphics are printed in just one pass.
The T6180 also features a dual dot row hammer bank, which actually
prints two rows of dots at the same time. And it does this in the time it takes a
conventional printer to print just one.
AS/400 & S/36 Twinax and 3270 coax mainframe interfaces are
supported just as they are on the full line of Tally printers. IPDS and Magnum/Code
V/ IGP Graphics are available as well.
And now you can get both 10BaseT and 100BaseT Ethernet connections...
with the T6180's new LANPlex II option. Plus it supports all the current protocols you
need, including AS/400 & S/36 Twinax, 3270 coax, TCP/IP, Novell 3.x and 4.x, Windows
NT, and AppleTalk. The LANPlex II ships with a CD-ROM containing a number of utilities for
Unix, Novell, and flash upgrades.

Excellent Forms Handling
The T6180 can handle up to 6-part forms and prints a line up to
13.6" wide. A straight paper path and features to control and monitor paper position
all help ensure proper forms handling.
These include a new platen position sensor and high-torque dual motor
paper drive system to boost energy for heavy form control. Stability, tension and high
slew speeds are achieved by four tractors... each with six steel pins in contact with the
paper at all times. Plus you get a precise forms tension lever, a forms thickness
"Helm" wheel, and a new four-point shuttle mount.
The result is steady, reliable performance at up to 318,000 pages per
month.
Outstanding Print Quality
Using the constant density font mode, the T6180 can print characters of
10, 12, 13, 15 and 17 cpi all at 1,800 lpm, even if intermixed on the same line.
Sharp text for forms and labels is produced by a proprietary,
injection-molded impact element engineered specifically for uniform solid dot creation.
Teamed up with the exclusive Read/Right barcode algorithm... and an extremely stiff frame,
hammer bank carriage and platen... this element also produces the highest quality barcodes
and graphics.
Wide Graphics Language Emulations
The T6180 offers wide graphics language emulations. These include QMS
Code V and Printronix Graphics Language (PGL) compatibility for industrial graphics and
bar codes, and Tally's exclusive Read/Right barcodes.
Also included is POSTNET barcode.
Parallel And Serial Interface
Resident parallel and serial interface automatically select the active
interface.
Plus you get 12 popular emulations, including MT600, Printronix P600
& P6000, HP 2564C, DEC LG01, Epson FX100, Genicom ANSI & IBM Proprinter III XL.
Optional FourPlex (with or without IPDS), LANPlex II, and Extended
Parallel interfaces equip the T6180 to function fully with PC's, IBM midrange/mainframe
systems or networks. All interfaces are user installable and all ports are
"hot."
