Active Star Hub - A Twinax-to-RJ45 hub that allows
a
Twinax signalto run over a CAT3 or CAT5Cable.
The Hub
allows each of the 7 Twinax Addresses of a Twinax Host Port to be
connected to individually with a CAT5 cable in the same manner Ethernet
PCs are connected to an Ethernet Switch or Hub. Good for distances of up
to 2000 to 2500 feet on a CAT5 cable. Not restricted to the 300
foot limitation of an Ethernet Signal. One balun is required for each
Twinax device that is to beconnected to aTwinax-to-RJ45 Active Star Panel.

item is connected to the Twinax Workstation Controller of smaller
iSeries, AS/400 or S/36, as well as Twinax Remote Controllers such as
the IBM 5494 or the Perle 494e and 594e. You can connect up to 4
Twinax Cables or Baluns to this. If the AS/400 or Remote
Controller has a 4-port brick it will support up to a total of 28 Twinax
device addresses.

Twinax Female/Female Connector - Used to join two standard male
end Twinax cables together to increase length. Also used to
convert a male end of a cable to a female end to allow the attachment of
a Balun when a need exist to convert from standard Twinax cable to
RJ45. This is required when using Twinax star panels or hubs
that have female RJ45 ports and the existing cable runs are standard
Twinax cable.

Twinax Signal- A
Twinax signal is the signal generated from
the Twinax port of an IBM AS400, iSeries, S/36, or remote controllers
that is sent over cabling to run a Twinax display station, Twinax
printer or other Twinax peripheral device. A Twinax signal can be
transmitted over a standard Twinax cable, CAT3 or CAT5 cables when
equipped with Baluns at each end of the cable, or over a fiber optic
cable when using the appropriate
Twinax-to-Fiber Optic Converter or
Twinax-to-Fiber Optic Multiplexor.
