Overview
The Decision Data StackLink 400 Model STK 3494, part of a family of rack mounted products,
emulates an IBM 5494 Remote Control Unit. It provides a number of
connection options that include Twinax, Token Ring, and Ethernet. (Click

Designed with flexibility in mind, the STK 3494 controller comes in a
number of models all of which have 28 Twinax device support.
The following models are offered: A base 28 Twinax devices, or with an
additional 28 Twinax devices (total of 56 devices), or 80 Token Ring devices, or 80
Ethernet devices.
LAN/WAN Connectivity
The STK 3494's connectivity is complemented by full LAN and WAN support. Support for Token
Ring downstream physical unit (DSPU) attachment enhances host access for a total of 28
Twinax users. Token Ring gateway capabilities provide access to AS/400 host applications
for up to 28 Twinax attached terminals and up to 80 Token Ring devices. Ethernet gateway
capabilities provide access to AS/400 host applications for up to 28 Twinax attached
terminals and up to 80 Ethernet devices. For WAN connectivity, the Model STK 3494 provides
access to SDLC and X.25 networks across a single communication port.
Functionality
The Model STK 3494 is compatible with a variety of IBM programs such as Off iceVision/400.
Users get the benefits of 132-column display support, IPDS data-stream, and type-ahead.
Additional system flexibility is provided through support for data collection devices.
Remote file transfer capabilities using PC Support, Client Access, and
IBM Emulation allow you to access applications without additional software costs.
Service
Diagnostics available from the front panel, and error logs, simplify problem
determination. Multiple LED displays keep you informed on system status during start-up
and normal operations. Error conditions displayed are logged for reference. Connectivity
to the management module expands diagnostic options.
